Northern Light Medical Transport and Emergency Care
Department: Critical Care Transport
Position is located: Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center
Work Type: Full Time
FTE: 0.9 (36 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Sign on bonus: This position is eligible for a $5000 sign on bonus.
Current employees of any Northern Light Member Organizations or those with a service break less than one year are not eligible.

Summary:
The Critical Care Transport/Flight Paramedic is responsible for:
Rendering complete and comprehensive age-specific Critical Care Transport Paramedic care to the population of patients within their assigned unit/area
Participation in unit specific and hospital wide activities that promote self and staff development
Participation in the development of unit specific strategic goals that assist with the fulfillment of the Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems mission and vision
Responsibilities:
Maintains all licenses and certifications required to hold current licensure and remain employed
Cooperates and complies with established Quality Assurance process
Offers flexibility in scheduling matters; willing to work late arrive early augment staffing when requested (call-ins) and regularly complete pager shift duty
Maintain professional conduct; appearance behavior sense of responsibility pride in the company and willingness to mentor others; willingness to progress professionally into specialty team assignments
Adheres to standard precautions and other personal protective equipment (PPE) due to the presence of body fluids and chemicals
Demonstrate competency in assessing a patients handling emergencies and utilizing Basic Life Support equipment and procedures
Have the ability to perform CPR control of hemorrhage non-invasive shock treatment fracture and spinal stabilization
Manage environmental emergencies emergency childbirth operation of the semi-automatic defibrillator and delivery of oxygen
Properly administer medications as approved by Maine EMS
Knowledgeable in chest decompression; NG tube placement; trans-tracheal jet insufflation; surgical cricothyrotomy; and all other skills approved by Maine EMS
Performs advanced airway control; IV/IO therapy; cardiac monitoring; defibrillation; and other practices as approved by Maine EMS
Motivated in the delivery of care maintenance of facilities and equipment and inventory control
Maintains thorough familiarity with treatment protocols response requirements and quality assurance procedures in system in which assigned.
Maintains awareness of any and all changes in the system components and company policy
Maintains the level and type of certification(s) consistent with performing tasks in the system to which assigned
Complies with all state and company requirements for operation of motor vehicle
Operates a company vehicle in accordance with company policy and safe practices
Develops the ability to quickly and safely locate addresses through knowledge of number systems and street layouts
Ensure that vehicles remain in a state of readiness in terms of mechanical reliability medical supply and equipment cleanliness and appearance standards
Report immediately to the Supervisor any discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards that could compromise the units ability to complete a call
Completes all appropriate documentation as outlined in company policy
Reports all problems and unusual occurrences immediately to the Supervisor
Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to hygiene and uniform standards
Participation in company activities; staff Meetings committees and public relations details

Must be willing and able to perform job responsibilities during ground helicopter and fixed wing transports
Must successfully complete flight safety and flight physiology courses
Participate in restricted pager coverage
