Summary About the Position: This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) Fort Benning Ga. The MCOE is located 100 miles south of Atlanta Georgia and is adjacent to Columbus Georgia and Phenix City Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available. Responsibilities Monitor standardization/safety requirements; recommends changes in lesson plans training methods and techniques. Conduct classroom instruction on training maneuvers aircraft systems special mission tasks and other subjects as assigned. Instruct and evaluate rated and non-rated aviators in utilizing systems techniques and maneuvers. Instruct and evaluate rated and non-rated aviators in pilot and instructor pilot proficiency. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing methods of instruction for pilots (2) evaluating pilots in all levels of development in areas such as flight maneuvers aircraft systems and limitations instruments flight procedures and terrain flight; (3) operating the helicopter while instructing and evaluating the pilots in areas such as external (sling) load operations fast-rope insertion and extraction operations special patrol infiltration – exfiltration operations rescue hoist operations and navigation (4)conducting classroom instruction on the systems and/or procedures; (5) monitoring standardization requirements within the organization; and (6) recommending changes in lesson plans training methods and techniques within the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Certifications: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. (MUST attach a copy front and back in order to be considered for this position). FAA Medical Certification: Position requires the incumbent to possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment. (Must upload a copy of your FAA Class first or second-class medical certificate in order to be considered for this position.) Minimum Flight Hours Requirement: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command 250 Night Flying – 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months – 100 Instructor Hours – 500 Heavy Helicopter Hours – 500 (Up to 250 hours flying time acquired in heavy multi-engine airplanes may be substituted) Instrument Hours – 75 FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT. In-service placement for current Federal Employees flight hour requirements may be subject to waiver based on OPM Qualification Standards which may be accessed at: You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Design Educational and Training Technology Instructor Assessment Test Development Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Career Program (CP) 64 – Aviation position.
