Description, duties, responsibilities

The Operational Control Specialist (OCS) maximizes joint operation responsibility by delivering real-time comprehensive aviation support services to Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) duty pilots. The OCS shall monitor and assist with aviation decision-making related to risk safety and compliance per published standards. The OCS exercises operational control over company resources for safe and efficient HAA operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Operations (D.O.) the OCS shall perform the following: Operational Direct resources as required to promote safe and efficient operations Review flight risk assessments submitted before each flight and address and mitigate elevated risk when applicable Communicate with the appropriate communications center and pilot regarding known and perceived risks related to each flight Obtain and disseminate information to duty pilots as it pertains to routes facilities NOTAMS Navaids TFRs and company policies Monitor and interpret multiple weather resources on an ongoing basis to include all elements of a standard weather briefing Serve as a resource for pilots concerning weather interpretation and updates Utilize OCC computer -based flight tracking software Assist Communication Specialists as needed during emergency events Provide strong problem-solving skills Qualifications Commercial/Instrument pilot license (helicopter preferred) Experience in Part 135 helicopter EMS industry desired Meteorologist background desired Critical Thinking at an Operational level Requirements Excellent computer skills including M .S.
